Information for Parents

We are committed to using technology responsibly to support high-quality teaching, learning and school operations. As part of this, the school makes carefully controlled and ethical use of Artifical Intelligence (AI) tools in line with Eko Trust guidance and UK data protection law.

Why we use AI

AI is used only to support staff, helping with:

  • Lesson and curriculum planning ideas

  • Creating draft teaching and administrative resources (which are always checked and adapted by staff)

  • Professional development and research summaries

  • Organisational and administrative efficiency

AI supports professional judgement- it does not replace teachers, teaching or relationships with pupils.

Approved AI tools in use

Staff may only use Trust-approved platforms, which currently include:

  • ChatGPT

  • Google Gemini

  • TeachMate

Any new AI tool must go through a formal approval process, including a full data protection review, before it can be used in school.

How AI is used

AI may help staff with:

  • Lesson and curriculum planning ideas

  • Drafting teaching and administrative resources (always checked by staff)

  • Professional development and research summaries

AI is never used for assessments, grading, safeguarding records, reports or any work involving personal or sensitive information.

Data protection and safety

  • No personal pupil, parent or staff data is entered into AI systems

  • Any information used is fully anonymised

  • All use complies with UK GDPR and school policies

Accuracy and fairness

  • All AI content is reviewed for accuracy, bias and age-appropriateness

  • AI-generated content is not presented as original work

  • Staff are trained to use AI ethically and responsibly

Oversight

AI use is guided by Trust policies and monitored by school leaders to ensure it:

  • Is safe and fair

  • Benefits pupils and staff

  • Supports, not replaces, professional judgement

Pupils and parents

Pupil use of AI is limited and closely monitored.  We encourage families to talk with children about responsible and ethical use of AI and to raise any questions or concerns with the school.
