Music Partnerships
Year 2 met the composer Thomas Gregory and asked him questions about the new piece of music he has written for the 2020-23 ABRSM String Syllabus.
Music is at the heart of Hackney New Primary School
Since opening in 2015, the school has been forming strong and fruitful partnerships:
- Artis and the Team from the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department First Strings Experience were instrumental in writing the school curriculum and getting the school string programme off of the ground.
- In addition to providing funding for instruments and performance opportunities, Restore The Music and The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation, have been an invaluable source of support for the school, primarily through the networking opportunities they have provided to link up with other like minded music educators.
- The school feels very fortunate to have the support of the Hackney Music Service. Not only do we value the performance opportunities afforded to our children but the Music Service supports the school through yearly meetings with the Lead Music Teacher and Termly Primary Music Teacher Forums. We hope to continue working with the service we develop our music offer
- We have incorporated music grade exams into our music offer and have been working with ABRSM as they develop the new exam syllabi.
- HNPS are in the process of developing a reciprocal partnership with the Southbank Sinfonia that will give children regular opportunities to work with professional musicians and give the musicians the opportunity to work with children and develop the skills needed for an educational setting
