Computing & E-Safety

The HNPS curriculum is based on hands-on experience and rich communication. Children have a coding and computing lesson each week but technology is not routinely used in other lessons unless it brings something extra to the learning.

We use apps and websites to make school life more efficient, for example booking after-school clubs and to collect payments.

Each spring term we have e-safety week with workshops for parents about helping children to keep safe online.

Our key e-safety messages:

  • Consider how much screen time your child gets each day, and how this will change as they get older.
  • Establish family boundaries early on – such as using computers in shared family spaces.
  • Restrict access to online games – download games instead.
  • Remember that whilst computers are a gateway to knowledge they can also be a doorway into your home.
